Author Guideline

Author Guidelines

The Journal of Midwifery, Health and Community Care (JMHCC) welcomes the submission of high-quality manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and evidence-based practice in midwifery, nursing, women's health, maternal and child health, public health, and community care. Authors are requested to carefully follow these guidelines to ensure an efficient review and publication process.

1. Manuscript Types

JMHCC accepts the following categories of manuscripts:

  • Original Research Articles

  • Systematic Reviews

  • Literature Reviews

  • Case Reports

  • Short Communications

  • Community Engagement Reports

  • Evidence-Based Practice Articles

Submitted manuscripts must be original, have not been previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication in another journal.

2. Language

Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English. Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally edited before submission.

3. Manuscript Preparation

Authors should prepare manuscripts using the official JMHCC article template.

General formatting requirements:

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

  • Paper size: A4

  • Font: Times New Roman

  • Font size: 12 pt

  • Line spacing: 1.5

  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides

  • Continuous page numbering

4. Manuscript Structure

Original research articles should be organized as follows:

  • Title

  • Author(s) and Affiliation(s)

  • Corresponding Author

  • Abstract (200–250 words)

  • Keywords (3–5 keywords)

  • Introduction

  • Methods

  • Results

  • Discussion

  • Conclusion

  • Acknowledgements (optional)

  • Funding Statement (if applicable)

  • Conflict of Interest

  • Author Contributions

  • Ethical Approval

  • References

5. Title

The manuscript title should:

  • Be concise and informative.

  • Reflect the main findings of the study.

  • Contain no more than 20 words.

  • Avoid abbreviations whenever possible.

6. Abstract

The abstract should be written in English and contain:

  • Background

  • Objective

  • Methods

  • Results

  • Conclusion

The abstract should range between 200 and 250 words and should not contain citations.

7. Keywords

Provide 3–5 keywords separated by semicolons. Keywords should not duplicate words already used in the title whenever possible.

8. Introduction

The introduction should clearly explain:

  • Research background

  • Current scientific evidence

  • Research gap

  • Study objectives

  • Significance of the study

9. Methods

The Methods section should provide sufficient detail for replication and include:

  • Study design

  • Setting

  • Participants or study subjects

  • Sampling method

  • Data collection procedures

  • Variables

  • Instruments

  • Statistical analysis

  • Ethical approval

10. Results

Present findings clearly using text, tables, and figures where appropriate.

Do not duplicate information presented in tables or figures within the narrative.

11. Discussion

Interpret the findings by:

  • Comparing results with previous studies

  • Explaining possible mechanisms

  • Discussing implications for practice and policy

  • Identifying study limitations

  • Suggesting future research directions

12. Conclusion

The conclusion should directly answer the research objectives and highlight the contribution of the study.

Avoid repeating detailed results.

13. Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively.

  • Each table and figure should have a descriptive title.

  • Images should be of high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).

  • Authors must obtain permission for copyrighted materials.

14. References

JMHCC uses the APA (7th Edition) referencing style.

Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as:

  • Mendeley

  • Zotero

  • EndNote

At least 80% of references should be primary sources published within the last 10 years.

Whenever available, include the DOI for each reference.

15. Ethical Considerations

Research involving human participants must receive approval from an accredited Research Ethics Committee.

Authors should include:

  • Ethics approval number

  • Name of ethics committee

  • Informed consent statement where applicable

Research must comply with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.

16. Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the research.

If none exist, state:

"The authors declare no conflict of interest."

17. Funding

Authors should clearly identify all sources of funding that supported the research.

If no funding was received, state:

"This research received no external funding."

18. Author Contributions

Authors should specify individual contributions using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) where appropriate.

19. Plagiarism Policy

All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software.

JMHCC accepts manuscripts with a similarity index of no more than 20%, excluding references, quotations, and bibliographic materials.

Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, and other forms of publication misconduct will result in immediate rejection.

20. Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer-review process involving at least two independent reviewers.

Editorial decisions are based on:

  • Originality

  • Scientific merit

  • Methodological quality

  • Ethical compliance

  • Relevance to the journal scope

  • Clarity of presentation

Possible editorial decisions include:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Reject

21. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their work.

Accepted articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) License, allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction provided the original work is properly cited.

22. Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted through the JMHCC Online Journal System (OJS).

Authors should upload:

  • Manuscript file

  • Cover Letter

  • Copyright/License Agreement (if required)

  • Ethical Approval document (when applicable)

  • Supplementary files (if any)

The editorial office communicates with authors exclusively through the OJS submission system and registered email.

23. Publication Ethics

JMHCC adheres to the ethical standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows internationally recognized best practices in scholarly publishing. Authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers are expected to uphold the principles of honesty, transparency, confidentiality, accountability, and academic integrity throughout the publication process.
