Abstract

The development of the modern-era generations, especially Generation Z (Gen Z), has brought significant changes to various aspects of life, including leadership and public service. Generation Z, also known as the "tech-savvy" generation, has its own views on the ideal leader. They are open to diversity and value participation. Their opinions play an important role in shaping the characteristics and qualities of leaders expected to advance public services. This study aims to identify the preferred leadership style of Gen Z in the context of public service delivery in North Bogor. The study employs a quantitative descriptive method, collecting data via a digital questionnaire (Google Form). Bass and Avolio's transformational leadership theory and Lewin's democratic, authoritarian, and laissez-faire leadership theories are used as the analytical framework. The results show that transformational leadership is the most preferred style, with an average of 4.47. Democratic, laissez-faire, and authoritarian styles follow with averages of 3.66, 3.46, and 3.34, respectively.
